Apple iPhone Discarded: Once Again!

In a latest research done by IDC’s Mobile Phone Tracker - Apple, Motorola, and Sony Ericsson all lost market share in Q1 2008 year-over-year. Apple’s global handset shipments fell sharply, from 2.3 million units in Q4 2007 to 1.7 million in Q1 2008. Apple’s global market share declined for the first time, from 0.7% in Q4 2007 to 0.6% in Q1 2008.

Apple has been hit hard by stock-outs in North America and lackluster demand for its overpriced iPhone in Western Europe, according to Strategy Analytics.

Now Apple must be hoping to see some favorable developments with the launch of 3G enabled iPhone later in the June.

Another Mobile TV in the US: Courtesy LG Vu

Yet another mobile TV that claims it’s different – the LG Vu mobile phone earned all the attention at CTIA 2008. Somewhat delayed arrival – though, it is good that such releases are finally getting substantial attention. But, it was an utterly disappointed session in 2007 because Nokia’s most of the forecasts badly disappointed people. It was predicated that mobile TV would come with every new Nokia handset – And, it did not happen. Even though some mobile TV phones were released, but they also ended up creating confusion – with their restrictive programs, sky-high cost and tiny screen. And, users felt bad because it was harder to find a difference between 3G features and mobile TV.


Let’s see what this new mobile TV offers:
1.Touchscreen (stolen from iPhone.. again) and candybar designing
2.Endowed with easily navigable EPG (Electronic Programme Guide)
3.In standard features, you get – web browser, an MP3 player.

Let’s see how it works, but with its cramped keyboard and limited mobile TV service in US…chances are really bleak!

1. Dangerous Dave: This one is inspired from the original Dangerous Dave game (launched in 1988, as PC game). Developed by the legendary John Romero

While in India we still feel nostalgic about those late night Vividh Bharti music programs, a research done on the UK music business predicted that 3 years down the line, about 30% of all the music will be purchased via mobile phones. Great news for music lovers…

This study came right after Nokia announced that they are going to offer a new mobile service called 'Comes with Music’ that would come with unlimited music downloading option.

Presently, the mobile sector provides 13% of the total music served every year. That means there would be almost 300% increase in the next 3 years!

The most important thing about such developments is that, you can get all your music instantly –no matter where you are (depending upon the service provider). After a surge in music phones, every music lover has got more than one reason to feel good…. keep listening!

This “oh-so-nice” gadget belongs to Nokia’s “L’Amour” Collection. Surely, Nokia does deserve all applauds not only for designing something so peculiar, but also promoting it –big times. You have to pay a big amount to possess this beauty. Looks do not come easy and people do anything to look good. With striking resemble to a Zippo, don’t feel bad when somebody asks for light.



2. Apple iPhone:



Whether it’s the iPhone fascination or my lunacy, whenever I try to forget about this forbidden fruit, it pops up to do rounds in my mind. Leave functionalities aside, Apple Inc. are capable of creating something so unique that every now and then you would fancy holding this beauty in your palm. And, if you are the proud owner of Apple iPhone then you surely know how it feels to have it (everyone knows how it looks –thanks to Apple’s exaggerated marketing campaigns, which made it look like more of a household item than a special phone).

Hailed as the concept phone by the manufacturer, but where is the IDEA folks? Now take this, as they say, this phone is built by a soft and malleable material. Yes, it can be wrapped or rolled around in any particular shape, you like. Still in the conduit, this phone might come with a flexible circuitry system and a LED display. So, you can wrap it around your body to show off your style. But, do you really believe in something like this. Ok, wear one and don’t get shocked if somebody takes you as an alien. Yet another stereotypical approach (something beyond our rational understanding).

4.The Goldvish Piece:



When it comes to bragging about expensive things, a tech-savvy person wouldn’t mind paying a huge price for a compatible mobile handset (loaded with superb functionalities). But, our world is full of posers, who just hate to look genuine or normal human being. And, this masterpiece is meant for them. With a wafer of gold over the body and stamped 160 diamonds, it works as your “I m rich” tag. More of a jewelry item than a handset; human vanities can go to any extent.


That’s our pick, you can add more in this category for the welfare of all the tech-buffs…all I can say…Spare the technology from spooky tantrums.

Apple iPhone: The biggest Bluffer of 2007

A systemically premeditated promotional campaign followed up by an epic release of the iPhone –and after jostling in those queues, you went home proudly to show your cherished possession.

Honey, I got the iPhone.

Oh my God!

So, that’s it. No, like every other twisted melodrama, the story unfolded to leave you speechless.

Though, I have already given my verdict over this forbidden fruit, but now that we are embracing 2008, it’s the right time to remember this bluffer.

Just to remind you:

1.Apple iPhone does not support 3G!
2.Its 2 megapixels camera lacks autofocus and flash.
3.Forget about third party applications.
4.Irreplaceable battery.

Above all, it is preposterously costly.

Apple has a lot to learn to prove itself in the world of mobile phones. As far as Apple iPod is concerned –we just love it. But, Sorry folks, your iPhone is pathetic.
